Harness Racing: Selections and Horses to Watch March 17-21

Betting season kicks off with old pacers battling it out in Yonkers in Stage 1 of the Blue Chip Matchmaker (MM [mares]) and Bogata (men) series of stimulation. Matchmaker legs go on Fridays; the Bogatas go on Mondays. This edition covers the first leg of Bogata, which will be reported in the Update on the following Monday.

Selected features and TwinSpires endless list of Horses to Watch (H2W) share the keys to success in their win, place and display and exotic rewards.

Thursday, March 17

Each week we highlight some likely long shots from Mohawk Park. If they don’t win on the first crack, we add them to H2W the following week as stakes or in select features, adding new possibilities to this section.

Race 7 – JM Deflection: I had a horrible trip last time, throw that race away.
Race 8 – horse trader: Burnt runs in the second level at 4-1.

Meadows, Race 5

A tough early duel for the lead made him the crowd’s third choice, mission tripsshort down the stretch, so throw it away and hope for a better price and better mileage that could mean another winning notch in the Scott Betts stable.
For exotics looking to pay well, use persecute, who won last week in said race and should be a good price from the 8th hole; and Daddy Hanoverin a good place to suck up and add value.

Yonkers, Races 5, 6, 7, 8

Race 5
Each $40k MM split has a field of eight. Clearly, Bed of roses, winner of a Yonkers Open last week, gets the most attention and deserves it. The crowd also supports dramatic actwho prepared to finish second in Miami at a Mares Open and is fresh after the close win.
We see the greatest value in machnhope, the Noel Daley contender coming off a win at the Meadowlands. Bettors can penalize her for mistake coming off the 7th hole, but we won’t.

race 6
Nick Devita, though seldom respected in the pools, sends better to the west post with three wins from six starts and punters will like that. She was the favorite in the race won by Lit De Rose and put in a tougher ride than the top two finishers.
Our decision, however, will Delitfulcatherin N. He comes from Pocono, where his aggressive move in a qualifier might work better on the half-mile oval. Trainer Deborah Daguet’s horses have been competitive overlays.

race 7
The contenders are deep in this field. However, if Best Head West runs better than the crowd measures in odds in Race 6, a big mile could be on the way for blue ivy here. She was the close second favorite to “West” and the last one out. She won some of her in the 2021 MM and Todd Buter is back with her now and hasn’t maxed out of her yet.

race 8
Productive in the New York half miles are the horses trained by Andrew Adamczyk and one is here. Karma Seelster won an open filly/mares with power on March 3rd and beat some of the entries in stage 1. He’s on a roll and may offer a better than fair price to win here, which could mean he’ll be around for the whole in April.
baffling he crushed a few others at MM on March 10, winning 46-1 with no obvious errors on the field. Another good price can arise for a good grinding mare.

Saturday, March 19

Pocono Race 5
He will most likely be the third choice of the public in this field of seven horses, yankee keeler It must be forceful from the rail against the first two who will be the most bet. He comes out of a race on March 5 where we achieved an exact cold, finishing fourth with 17-1.

Monday, March 21

Yonkers, Races 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

race 3
All of Borgata’s legs cost $50k each. This is the plan begins his season in this field and with an excellent history and a better position than American history, his main rival, Burke will have her flying. In a place for a suction trip is sonny north weaver, coming off a lackluster performance from Meadowlands. These two could easily finish one-two in any order and produce a healthy price.

Race 4
The Bongiorns dragon said he was second as the favorite prep for this series at the Meadowlands and won’t be shortchanged if he puts his top speed to work through four turns.
burke sends Elver Hanover to work and like him, we hope that the pacemaker has matured and runs better than his second season.

Race 5
The Bongiorns Nicholas Beach he needed his qualifier on March 5 and he looked good doing his necessary time to finish fourth. He will go much faster here and could dominate the pack.
covered bridgeanother Burke pony, is doing well these days and will be in the mix.

race 6
Leonidas A. it was good early in the 2021 series, but fizzled out later. Started 2022 with a bang and gets hole 1 for a wire-to-wire route performance.
Once again, the Bonjiornos loom is daring, this time with Ostro Hanoverwhich will make an impression on the bag.

race 7
Nandolo N. he is coming off a Preferred at the Meadowlands, his first of the year, and from the 1 spot here he will improve, perhaps enough to handle the softer stage 1 course.
