A group of Genshin Impact fans are asking for a big quality of life improvement to be added to the game to make it easier to find chests and other secrets.
Genshin Impact is one of many modern games that have benefited from the popularity of open-world settings. This paid off in transforming the continent of Teyvat into a vast and immersive landscape reminiscent breath of the wild, but it also has its drawbacks. Now a group of Genshin Impact fans are clamoring for a big quality-of-life improvement that would make the game much less stressful.
There are many regions in Genshin Impact with others added frequently, all of which are strewn with chests, mora, seelies, and other secrets. In fact, finding all those hidden rewards can be a slow and painful process. This is especially true since even reaching 100% in a region does not guarantee that all the secrets have been found.
Redditor LightningShado kicked off the discussion with a post begging miHoYo to change Genshin Impactso that all remaining secrets appear after players reach 100% on a given region. This quality of life change would make exploring Teyvat much less stressful for affected players. LightningShado described feeling perpetually paranoid that they missed materials or primogems in an area they had already cleared. They also wondered why miHoYo didn’t add this small but useful feature to the game from the start.
Another user, ArkassEX, said that while a full map upgrade isn’t in the cards, miHoYo should give the treasure compass unlimited range. They also suggested that the compass locks onto chests hidden by puzzles and mechanics, which can be easy to overlook.
TheQuestionableDuck built on this by stating that with current treasure-finding mechanics, players in 2025 would still search all over the map for a single common chest missed in Mondstadt. A third user observed that miHoYo seems to collect data on the most frequently missed chests and occasionally hosts an event near those locations.
Fellow Redditor July-Thirty-First suggested an alternative solution: miHoYo could sync players’ exploration completion status with the official Genshin Impact interactive map. This would allow the map to update in real time based on puzzles added to the game and puzzles the player has completed. However, this would require miHoYo to regularly update the official interactive map, which some users complain they don’t do. More and more users expressed that they were tired of searching for chests and taking new routes that weren’t marked on the official map to try and achieve 100% region completion.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4 and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
