Are you one of the many buyers looking for Ford’s new compact pickup truck? Buying one can be harder than it looks. And that’s because orders for the 2022 Ford Maverick are currently on hiatus. Through high demand and supply chain issues, Ford maximized production of the Maverick. And buyers are feeling pressure from dealer markups and inventory shortages. Orders for the 2023 Ford Maverick are not yet available.
When can you buy the Ford Maverick?
Starting in January, Ford has halted customer orders for the 2022 Ford Maverick. Some orders for 2022 may even be pushed back to 2023. This has disappointed buyers of this little truck. Until February, some deliveries were still intended for dealerships, but this is no longer the case.
The Ford Maverick is currently one of the cheapest new trucks on the market. It is therefore logical that this vehicle was very popular. At first, only hybrid versions of this truck were not available. But according to autoevolution, the break now applies to all trucks.
Can you buy a Maverick from the dealership?
Don’t expect to show up at the dealership to buy a new Maverick, as there’s likely a waiting list. While some buyers may be lucky to find this compact pickup, looking for one at a dealership can be frustrating. But that doesn’t mean it’s totally impossible to get behind the wheel of this little truck. There are a range of options available on the secondary market. But some of them sell well above the MSRP. Ruining some of the potential value propositions buyers see from the 2022 Maverick.
When the 2023 Ford Maverick arrives, there will likely be a few small changes to it. Often the first model year of a vehicle can have issues, and the Maverick is no different. In fact, the Maverick has already had a few recall alerts since its introduction.
Which Ford Maverick is the best?
The Ford Maverick comes in three trim levels, and we think the XLT is the best. This model is equipped with things like cruise control as well as the available turbocharged engine. When equipped with this powertrain, the Maverick can be equipped with all-wheel drive.
For those looking for a small off-road truck, the Maverick XLT has an available FX4 off-road package. This package lends legitimate capabilities to Ford’s new small truck. Which some buyers may seriously appreciate. Each trim level has a different price. The Maverick XL starts at $19,995, the XLT model has an MSRP of $22,360, and the top trim Maverick Lariat will start at $25,860.
Should you order this little van?
Yes, if you are looking for a compact truck, the 2022 Ford Maverick is ideal. It is both affordable and offers modern features. This is something truckers are likely to appreciate. It seems that one of the Maverick’s biggest problems is in the hands of buyers.
We can only hope that by the time the Maverick enters the 2023 model year, supply issues will be ironed out and Ford won’t be forced to suspend orders. But that’s not the worst thing that can happen. As long as the Maverick remains popular, more brands may choose to enter the compact truck market, much like Hyundai did with the Santa Cruz. And in our opinion, the more small trucks, the better.
