Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races w/c April 18: Atenz-ion Please

The latest ranked online playlist for Gran Turismo 7 is now live and once again the dominant Mazda Atenza Gr.4 will be in use.

It’s the start of a new week, and that means the The Gran Turismo 7 Sport Mode Daily Race Schedule has been updated with a forest list of online qualifying races.

Once again, there are three Balance of Performance themed races. That means car tuning is prohibited. With launch weeks now a distant memory, perhaps BoP-only racing, much like GT Sport, will remain the standard format for the foreseeable future.

This week also sees a new Gr.4 race, so it’s time to dust off that Mazda Atenza, or Mazda 6 outside of Japan, again, as the dominant saloon takes the credit once again. We expect a BoP update soon if GT Sport is anything to go by.

Without further ado, here is what awaits us for the next seven days of competitive online racing in Gran Turismo 7 and which cars we would select for each event.

DAILY RACE A

Gran Turismo 7, sport mode, DAILY RACE A, Volkswagen Scirocco

Some things never change, like my love of slow cars combined with the Brand Hatch Indy Circuit inside a Gran Turismo qualifying race. It’s the perfect recipe for learning the ropes of sport mode and increasing your driver rating.

This week, everyone will be in the same ’10 Volkswagen Scirocco R: the 252bhp front-wheel drive hot hatch coupe is sorely missed by enthusiasts after the company now produces the T-ROC convertible in its place. Oh darling.

A lap under 55 seconds should secure a strong grid position, but that’s easier said than done. Putting down the skating Druids and Graham Hill Bend is mission critical.

A little note: When you buy this car new, it comes equipped with Sport Hard tires, but this race only allows Comfort Soft tires. The Tuning Shop has them for just 1,600 credits.

Individual Car Pick: Volkswagen Scirocco R ’10 (Central Brand, 51,500 Credits)

DAILY RACE B

Gran Turismo 7, Sport Mode, DAILY RACE B, Mazda Atenza Gr.4

The race using Gr.4 this week is Race B, as opposed to the longer Race C from last week. That means relatively fast and grippy GT4-like race cars, but a five-lap sprint.

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is the place, so in the race, staying with the lead pack and the slipstream is the key factor for a successful race.

Racing on hard tires and low wear means the only strategy is to go as fast as possible on each and every lap.

Top speed should be the defining characteristic when choosing a car, but once again the leaderboards are dominated by the Mazda Atenza Gr.4. Alternative options are the Bugatti Veyron Gr.4 and the McLaren 650S Gr.4, but that four-wheel drive traxion The Mazda’s traction cannot be usurped today.

Recommended car: Mazda Atenza Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits)

DAILY RACE C

Gran Turismo 7, sport mode, DAILY RACE C, Subaru WRX Gr.3

This week’s longest jumper race takes place at the Red Bull Ring, located in the mountains of Austria. You can use any Gr.3 car of your choice, as long as it uses the Racing Hard tire.

It will be necessary to maintain the limits of the track at the exit of Niki Lauda Kurve and the final corner; it can be too easy to put all four wheels off the track and end up with a penalty.

With 10x fuel usage, monitoring your levels will be crucial. Do you go as fast as possible and hole, or do you conserve all the time? Both could be feasible depending on your personal preferences and the amount of traffic around you.

For this race, there are several car options that will be successful. The now renamed Peugeot RCZ Gr.3 will hold it in good stead, but its relative lack of straight-line speed could leave it vulnerable to something like the Hyundai Genesis Gr.3.

With all this in mind, the Subaru WRX Gr.3 seems to strike a good balance, and it is this one that we recommend.

Recommended car: Subaru WRX Gr.3 (Brand Central, 450,000 Credits)
