  • Two of those changes were forced by suspension, as defender DeAndre Yedlin and striker Tim Weah picked up their second qualifying yellow cards in the game against Mexico. After tonight’s game, both would be eligible for selection for Wednesday’s qualifying final in Costa Rica.
  • Shaq Moore has been called up to camp following Reggie Cannon’s positive test for COVID ahead of the game against Mexico. The 25-year-old defender arrived in Orlando an hour before kickoff at Azteca and joined his teammates when they arrived at the team hotel on Friday afternoon.
  • Luca de la Torre returns to the lineup after earning his first national team start in the 3-0 win over Honduras on Feb. 2 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Tyler Adams and Antonee Robinson will win their 12and WCQ ends tonight, jointly moving into a tie for team leader in the 2022 qualifying cycle.
  • Christian Pulisic is the USMNT captain for the eighth time tonight. The team is 5-1-1 when Pulisic wears the armband.
  • Pulisic is one of four players to score at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, scoring the opener in WCQ’s 4-0 win over Panama on October 6., 2017.
  • The other three scorers came out of the USA’s 7-0 friendly victory over Trinidad and Tobago on January 31, 2021. Jesús Ferreira earned man of the match honors that night, registering two goals and three assists. Paul Arriola contributed with two goals and an assist, while Miles Robinson also scored his first international goal.
  • Substitute defender Aaron Long also scored at the Exploria Stadium, in USA’s 4-1 win over Canada in the Concacaf Nations League group stages on 15 November 2019.
  • Goalkeeper Zack Steffen earned his 10and career clean sheet Thursday in Mexico City. He sits one behind teammate Matt Turner and Arnie Mausser for sixth on the USMNT’s all-time shutouts list.
  • Starters Tyler Adams, Miles Robinson and Zack Steffen, and replacement Jordan Pefok are all under watch. If any of them receive a yellow card tonight, they will serve a one-game ban in Wednesday’s qualifying final in Costa Rica.
  • Goalie Sean Johnson and suspended Tim Weah and DeAndre Yedlin are the three players who haven’t dressed for tonight’s game. Defender Reggie Cannon remains on the list but is unavailable for selection after testing positive for COVID ahead of the game against Mexico.
  • The United States are 16-2-6 against Panama and hold a 6-1-2 lead in World Cup qualifying.
  • USMNT hold a 4-0-0 advantage in home qualifying, edging out The Canaleros 14-0.
  • Ivan Barton of El Salvador is the referee for tonight’s game. USMNT is 3-0-1 in four previous games officiated by Barton: October 16, 2008 v Peru (1-1 D; friendly), June 18, 2019 v Guyana (4-0 W; Gold Cup ), July 3, 2019 against Jamaica (3-1 W; Gold Cup), November 12, 2021 against Mexico (2-0 W; WCQ).
