Battlefield 2042 is getting a massive 4.0 update with over 400 changes

Update 4.0 for Battlefield 2042 will be rolling out soon, with an impressive array of changes, and now a DICE developer details what to expect.


DICE continues to work on its latest shooter, Battlefield 2042. Its upcoming 4.0 title update may bring some of the biggest changes to the game so far. A member of the DICE team says that the 4.0 update for Battlefield 2042 will have over 400 individual fixes and the developer also has some detailed changes that fans can expect to see when the update launches next week.

It’s been five months since Battlefield 2042 launched to overwhelmingly negative fan reception due to various bugs and kernel changes Battlefield playability. Since the game’s launch, DICE has consistently reiterated its intention to listen to Battlefield community feedback and provide concrete plans to correct the state of Battlefield 2042. March’s 3.3 title update added much-needed features like the sorely missing Dashboard, with the developers promising a bigger update with more fixes was on the way. This update comes in the form of Title Update 4.0 and is expected to launch next week.

Ahead of next week’s update, DICE Community Manager Kevin Johnson announced on Twitter that Battlefield 2042The April update will include a whopping “over 400 individual fixes, bugs, and quality of life improvements.” The community manager went on to detail a handful of incoming changes regarding Operators, XP, and gameplay balancing. Operators Rao and Paik will get their individual traits updated, while Sundance will get a fix for their grenade belt. On the XP balancing side, ribbon commendations have been tweaked so players unlock them much faster across all modes, and XP for support actions has been rebalanced to emphasize on teamwork. In addition, the 4.0 update will bring some changes to the vehicle Battlefield 2042; Kevin promises that the infantry/vehicle counterplay “still has some bite”. And finally, weapon attachments have been overhauled to ensure guns feel unique and impactful when choosing a loadout.

Despite this long list of changes to come Battlefield 2042, with over 400 other fixes still in the works, some fans feel like that’s not enough. Long-standing issues such as performance issues, the game’s squad system, and mouse input issues persist, and it’s uncertain whether the 4.0 title update will fix these issues.
